This easy route is dedicated to tourists. You can enjoy an easy ride in the beautiful countryside surrounded by numerous cultural sights.
The start is from the central Knin square of A. Starčević in Šibenik direction, passing through the old town centre past the monument dedicated tothe military campaign Oluja ’95, the orthodox church of St. Shroud and the catholic churches of St. Anthony and St. Joseph. Before the bridge over the Krka river, the route turns right on the footpath and cycling track Marunuša. The ride continues through the Krka canyon and soon you arrive to the river Bitižnica flowing downstream into the Krka river. There is a mild uphill part on the verge of the Knin field over the little river of Došnica to Golubić. In Golubić, you can visit the orthodox church of St. Stephen built on the old Croatian archaeological site from the 10th century. Interesting to see is the artificial lake of Golubić on the river Bitižnica, the natural habitat of indigenous species of stream trout. Don’t miss the sanctuary of the Lady of Lourdes in a natural cave in the hamlet of Šimići. After that, you get off the macadam road and get on the traffic road leading through Vrpolje and Knin Field to Knin. Following the road, at Vrpolje you can visit the St. James’ church, protected cultural heritage, built in the 18th century on the foundations of an older church.
